Hobe Sound Farms is running its seventh pumpkin patch in 2026, and the format has clearly settled: free entry, open through October, hayrides and animal encounters alongside a farm stand and a weekend farmers market with more than sixty vendors. It is a working farm that adds pumpkins in October, rather than an attraction built around them, and that distinction shapes the whole visit.
The practical upshot is that this is the lowest-risk fall stop on the Treasure Coast. Nothing is ticketed, nothing is booked, and if your two-year-old lasts eleven minutes you have lost nothing. That is a real advantage over the $18-a-head reservation model elsewhere in the region, and over the big ticketed farms up in Tampa Bay.
The published October hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am to 2pm. That is backwards from almost every other patch in the state, where weekends are the long days. If your plan is a leisurely Saturday lunch followed by pumpkins, you will arrive to a closed gate. Weekend visits need to start in the morning.
The compensation is that the weekend is when the market runs, and sixty-plus vendors is a genuine reason to come. On a weekday you get the patch, the animals and the farm stand, in a quieter and slightly longer window.
The farm sells both decorative and pie pumpkins. That is worth flagging because most Florida patches stock carving pumpkins only, and a pie pumpkin is a smaller, denser, cheaper fruit that will end up in a kitchen rather than rotting on a porch by November 3. Alongside that, the farm stand carries produce, eggs, honey and beef — which makes this a rare pumpkin trip that can double as a grocery run.
The farm advertised the patch as running all October long but did not publish exact opening and closing days, so treat the month as approximate at the edges. It also lists an Oktoberfest and a “Farm After Dark” evening with live music, neither of which had published dates when we checked in August 2026. If either is the reason you want to go, confirm before driving.
Nothing here changes the statewide fact that Florida cannot grow a commercial fall pumpkin crop, so these pumpkins came in on a truck like every other patch’s. What is genuinely local is everything else on the stand — and at a free-entry farm, that is a better reason to show up than the gourds.
Saturday or Sunday morning if you want the farmers market and its 60-plus vendors, but understand that the weekend day ends at 2pm — arrive by 10am or you are cutting it fine. Weekdays run later, to 4pm, and will be far quieter for the patch itself. Either way, morning: October on the Treasure Coast is still hot enough that a 9am arrival is a materially different experience from a 1pm one.
