The economics of a free church patch are the whole argument for going to one. There is no ticket, no timed entry and no decision to regret. You park, you walk in, you take the photographs, and you either buy a pumpkin or you do not. Set that against a ticketed Florida fall festival, where a family of four routinely pays $80 to $100 at the gate and then has to stay four hours to feel it was worth it, and the appeal with a small child is obvious.
What makes this particular one better than the average church lot is the hours. Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm, Sunday noon to 7pm, every day of the season. Almost every farm-based patch in Florida is a weekends-only operation that shuts in the late afternoon, which forces families into the hottest part of the hottest available day. A 7pm close removes that constraint. In October in Brevard County the last hour before close is a genuinely pleasant time to stand in a field, which is not something you can say about 1pm.
The one real trap here is the hayride schedule, because it does not match the patch schedule. The patch opens at 9am on weekdays; the hayride does not start until 4pm and stops at 7pm. On Saturday it runs the full day, and on Sunday from noon. If the dollar hayride is why your children agreed to come, a Tuesday morning visit is going to be a difficult conversation in the car park.

The church’s page gives hours but no dates, and does not say which year it describes. That means we cannot tell you when the 2026 patch opens or closes. A regional round-up had the 2025 season starting in the first week of October, which is typical, but typical is not a date. If you are planning anything in late September or the first days of November, call first.
They were trucked in, as they are at every patch in this state. Florida’s climate rules out a commercial fall pumpkin crop, so what you are buying anywhere in Florida is a pumpkin grown in a colder place and arranged in a lot for you. At a church patch, the money typically funds a congregation’s programme rather than a farm’s season — which for a lot of visitors is the tiebreaker.
Weekday late afternoon. The patch is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and Sunday noon to 7pm, and a 7pm close is unusually late for a Florida patch — it means you can go after school or after work, once the October heat has broken. The catch is the hayride: it runs Monday to Friday only from 4pm to 7pm, all day Saturday and from noon on Sunday. Turn up on a Tuesday morning and there is no ride. The church had not published its 2026 season dates when we checked; a 2025 round-up had the patch opening in the first week of October.
Thirty to forty-five minutes, or an hour if you take the hayride and let children run out the photo spots. This is a pumpkin lot, not a farm day.
Daily opening across a full month spreads demand far better than a weekends-only farm does. The pressure points are Saturday mornings and the after-dinner hours on the last weekend before Halloween. A Wednesday at 4pm should be near-empty.
Unconfirmed, but this is a church campus on a residential street rather than a farm. That usually means a paved lot, which in turn means the mud problem that plagues Florida farm patches after an afternoon storm probably does not apply. Residential streets around a busy church patch on a Saturday are a different kind of hassle.

You want attractions. The list here is a patch, a dollar hayride, gourds and squash for sale, and places to take photographs. There is no maze, no animals and no play equipment, and children over about eight will be finished quickly.
West Melbourne sits in the middle of the Space Coast patch cluster, with more options north towards Titusville and Mims. Because this one is free and open daily, it works better as a stop on an ordinary afternoon than as the centrepiece of a day out.
