Beasley’s has two identities and only one of them is documented. The Heartland Apple Festival is a defined event with dates, hours and a price. The orchard behind it is a working Hendricks County farm with a u-pick season and a market that it does not publish a calendar for.

The 9am opening deserves attention. Most Indiana fall farms open at 10am, and several in this region do not open until noon or 1pm. So the honest budget for a family of four is $64 plus perhaps $20 of pumpkins plus whatever the cider mill and market extract on the way out. Call it $100 to $110 for the day, and note that the ticket is only about 60 per cent of it.
That price is fair for a nine-hour day with a maze and a hayride included. It is poor value for a family that arrives at two, does the maze, and leaves at four. If you are paying festival admission, plan a festival-length visit.

The festival sits in the first third of the season, which has real advantages. The corn is fully grown and the maze is at its best. The apples are in. The weather is more reliable than late October, and the ground is likelier to be firm. What you will not get is the late-season atmosphere - no dark, no frost, and a 6pm close that is still in daylight on both weekends.
