There are two useful things to say about Konow’s, and one of them is a warning.
The useful thing: this is the affordable, unpretentious corn maze in a village that also contains one of the biggest paid-gate ride farms in the Chicago area. On the last rates the farm published, a weekday was $15 and a weekend $20 — for a family of four that is $60 or $80 against a bill that would run well past $100 a couple of miles down the road. What you get for it is a corn maze, an animal barn, rides, an indoor playland, an outdoor play area, pumpkins and fall decor, food vendors and photo spots. That is a genuine afternoon, and it is aimed squarely at families with children too young to care whether there is a roller coaster.
When we read the farm’s website in late August 2026, it had not been updated for this fall. It still carried the message that Konow’s was closed for the 2025 season, and the next event listed on it was a cruise night from May 2026. Every price, hour and schedule detail on this page is therefore the farm’s own last-published 2025 figure, and we have not dressed it up as anything else.
Farms of this size often run on a small staff and a website that gets attention in September rather than August, so this is not evidence of anything worrying. It does mean the responsible move is a phone call before you drive out — five minutes to confirm the season is running, the dates, and whether the prices held.
Most Illinois corn mazes are entirely at the mercy of the weather. October here is the wet month, and a maze in the rain is a slog for adults and a misery for a five-year-old. An indoor playland changes the risk calculation on a marginal forecast, because it means a rained-out afternoon still has somewhere to go.
That matters more than usual because the farm states flatly that there are no refunds for rain. Read those two facts together and the policy makes sense: they are not refunding you because they believe the day still works. Whether that is true depends on how much of your visit was going to be the maze.
Tuesday, on the last schedule, opened at 3pm rather than 10am. Every other open day started in the morning. It is exactly the sort of exception that gets missed, and it turns a family morning into a five-hour wait.
American Express is not accepted at the gate, the store, or some of the food vendors. Bring another card or cash. This is a small thing until you are at the front of the queue with two children and the wrong wallet.
Take the weekday if you can — cheaper and quieter, and on the published pattern the maze was open from 10am on four of the five weekdays. Columbus Day is priced as a weekend, so it is not the loophole it looks like.
Wear boots. Corn maze paths in northern Illinois in October are the definition of the mud problem: cut stubble, heavy soil, and a fortnight of rain that has nowhere to drain. And if you are staying towards an 8pm close in mid-October, dress for cold rather than cool. The temperature on open farmland after sunset drops faster than the same evening in town.
We cannot give you 2026 dates, because the farm had not published any. On the last schedule it posted, the maze ran 10am to 8pm Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, 10am to 7pm Sunday, and 3pm to 8pm on Tuesdays. If that pattern carries over, a weekday morning is both the cheapest and the quietest window, and Tuesday is the day to double-check before setting off.
Two to three hours. This is a maze-and-animals farm rather than an all-day park, and the ticket is priced accordingly.
Smaller and less advertised than its neighbour, so the crowd story is mostly about weekends versus weekdays rather than sell-outs. A 10am open on a weekday is the calm version; October Saturday afternoons are not.
