Maize Quest runs two different seasons under one name, and picking the wrong one is the main way to be disappointed here.
From September 5 to 25 it is a weekend daytime park. Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm, Sunday 1:00pm to 6:00pm. Six hours and five hours respectively — shorter than most people assume a fall attraction runs — with no evening component at all.
From September 26 to November 8, Flashlight Nights begin, and the place changes character. Friday and Saturday stretch to 10:00am to 10:00pm, a full twelve hours, and the maze becomes an after-dark attraction on the same ticket. Sundays extend to 7:00pm but still do not open until one.
If the night maze is what you want, the September dates cannot give it to you at any price. If a quiet, warm, uncomplicated daytime visit is what you want, the September dates are the best version of this farm and the October ones are not.

That makes the decision unusually clean. Some children ride a slide once, take a photograph and move on. Others will do it fourteen times and would do it forty. You almost certainly know which kind you have. For a family of four the upgrade is $20 on top of $64, so it needs to be earning its keep in genuine repeat rides rather than in the vague sense that the better ticket is the better ticket.
If your group is mostly adults doing the maze, general admission is plainly enough.
Every Sunday, all season, the park opens at 1:00pm. This is worth stating twice because Sunday is the default family day and a 1:00pm opening breaks the most common plan there is: farm in the morning, home in the afternoon.
It also compresses the day. A September Sunday runs five hours, from one to six. Take out arrival, parking and a food stop and you have a fairly tight window for a large maze plus thirty-plus attractions. Saturdays are the longer day in both halves of the season.
The published rule is that the last ticket is sold and redeemed one hour before closing. That second word matters. It is not simply that the ticket window shuts at nine on a Flashlight Night; the ticket has to be used by then. Turning up at a quarter past nine because the sign says 10:00pm will not work.
Build that into the plan for evening visits especially, when the temptation is to arrive late for the atmosphere. The practical last useful arrival on a Friday or Saturday in October is somewhere around eight, giving you an hour of dark maze before the redemption cutoff.
Southern York County in late October, at ten at night, is cold. The maze is corn — no shelter, no warmth, slow walking, and the 2026 design, Samurai: Land of the Rising Sun, is a large one. Layers, hats, and a torch each rather than one shared phone.
The season also runs to November 8, a full week past Halloween, which is a genuine asset. Frost will have finished plenty of Pennsylvania mazes by then and many farms will have shut for the year. If your October evaporated, this is one of the few places still open — colder, barer, and quieter, which some people prefer.
Nothing about parking is published. It is a fun park on farm ground near the Maryland line, so assume grass and assume mud after rain.

Once Flashlight Nights begin on September 26 the operating week widens to three days and the hours double, which spreads demand, but October Saturday evenings are still the peak. The farm sits near the Maryland line and draws a mixed Pennsylvania and Maryland crowd, so do not assume Pennsylvania school holidays are the only thing shaping the calendar.
