Port Farms is the biggest fall operation in this corner of Pennsylvania and, unusually, it has done the work of publishing its calendar properly. September 12 to November 1, Wednesday through Sunday, hours by day, four themed weekends dated, and a standing midweek offer. That is more information than most farms in this batch put on their websites combined, and it makes the trip easy to plan - with one gap.
Admission covers 25-plus attractions on a single ticket, which is the right model for a farm this size: an 8-acre corn maze, wagon rides, jumping pillows, Slide Mountain, a Ball Zone, a Game Garden, a Trike Track, pedal carts, barnyard blasters, the Mindbender Mazes, animal exhibits, the pumpkin patch and a farm market. That matters less here than it would at a farm with a thin attraction list, because the value proposition is clear either way. Still, open the checkout at home. Harvest at Night deserves a specific warning. Late October in Erie County after dark is properly cold, and this is a county that gets weather off the lake before the rest of the state does. A field at 9:00pm on October 23 is not a place for a light jacket and trainers. Layers, hats, and boots that you have already accepted will get muddy.
The other seasonal reality is daylight. The same 7:00pm close is a very different visit in mid-September, when there is still light, and in late October, when the last hour and a half is dark.
