Most Florida pumpkin patches are a pumpkin delivery with a photo backdrop attached. The Bryer Patch is one of the exceptions worth driving for, and the reason is the flowers rather than the pumpkins.
Florida cannot grow a commercial fall pumpkin crop — the climate does not allow it — so the pumpkins here, as everywhere else in the state, came off a truck. Sunflowers are a different story. They grow in North Florida, the farm runs u-pick flower fields, and it schedules separate sunflower festivals in September and November on either side of the October pumpkin run. That is a real agricultural product you are picking with your own hands, which is exactly what the pumpkin part of a Florida patch can never be.
The farm’s fall programme opens on September 26, 2026 and does not run one continuous festival. September is sunflowers, October is pumpkins, November is sunflowers again. Which weekend you choose therefore decides what you actually get, and there is no version of this trip where you get all of it. If your children want a pumpkin, October. If you want the photographs, September or November — and those months also sit outside the October crowd peak, which is a rare case of the quieter option also being the better one.
Quite a lot. There is no published closing date, no published hours and no published admission price for 2026. A local guide had the 2025 run at October 11 to November 25 on weekends, 10am to 7pm, but carrying prior-year figures forward is how people end up at a locked gate. The opening date is the only 2026 fact the farm has committed to.
That gap matters more here than at a free church lot, because this is a farm with a long attraction list — hayride, crop maze, barrel train, animal feeding, play paddock, corn bin, vendors — and long attraction lists usually mean either a gate price or a stack of individual charges. Either way, a phone call before you drive is worth the five minutes.
Assume a grass car park and dress accordingly, particularly after rain. Assume no shade in the flower fields, because there never is. And go early: a North Florida farm in late September is hot by eleven, and animals, children and standing sunflowers all look better before it gets there.
Weekend mornings, and early in the programme. The farm opens its fall run on September 26, 2026, with a September sunflower festival, a pumpkin festival through October and a second sunflower festival in November — so unlike most Florida patches, the thing you came for depends on which month you pick. North Florida in late September is still hot enough that a flower field at 10am is a different experience from the same field at 2pm.
Two to three hours. With a hayride, a crop maze, a barrel train, animals to feed, a play paddock, a corn bin and a u-pick flower field, this is a genuine morning out rather than a stop — but it is not a full day either.
Weekends only, which concentrates the whole season into a limited number of days. October Saturdays during the pumpkin festival will be the peak. The sunflower weekends in September and November are the ones most likely to be manageable.
Not published. This is a working farm outside Newberry, so field or pasture parking is the overwhelmingly likely arrangement — which means mud after North Florida rain and a walk to the gate. Wear shoes you do not mind.
You need a fixed budget before leaving the house. The farm publishes its opening date but not its admission prices, not its hours and not a closing date. Also skip if you want a night event or a haunt — this is a daytime weekend operation.
Newberry's Cornfield Maze is in the same town and runs Friday and Saturday nights as a haunted attraction. A daytime visit here and a night at the maze make a natural full-day Saturday for a family with a wide age range, since the two serve almost opposite audiences.

Almost certainly not, and that is true across Florida — the state's climate does not support a commercial fall pumpkin crop, so pumpkins are trucked in. The sunflowers and u-pick flowers, by contrast, are a real crop grown on site, which is what sets this farm apart from a parking-lot patch.
