An eighteen-attraction fall theme park with a tap room, a creamery and a dog park attached — genuinely one of the biggest days out in Dutchess County, but its own website was visibly out of date when we read it, so call before you drive.

Barton is closer to a small fall theme park than to an orchard with pumpkins for sale. The published attraction list runs to eighteen items: a corn maze, pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, hayrides, a petting zoo, a haunted house, a carousel, a wooden ship playground, gemstone mining, a mega slide, pedal go-karts, mini golf, apple cannons, a cow train, live music, a creamery, a tap room and a dog park. That is a property built to hold a family for most of a day and to sell them several things while it does.
This is the thing to know before anything else. In August 2026 the homepage was still displaying a weather-cancellation notice referencing Columbus Day on 10/13 — a Monday in 2025, not in 2026. The season range on the page, July 29 to November 4, was not clearly attached to the fall festival at all. And the hours on the homepage flatly contradict the hours a regional guide recorded.
None of that means the farm is closed or the attractions are gone. It means the website is not a reliable planning document this season, and a five-minute phone call will save you a wasted drive. That is worth doing anywhere, but it is close to mandatory here.
If the homepage timetable is the accurate one, Barton runs late on Fridays and Saturdays — to 9pm. A farm with a haunted house, live music and a tap room running to 9pm in October is running two different businesses in one day, and the second one is not aimed at a five-year-old.
There is also the seasonal arithmetic that catches out people who booked in September and returned in late October. The Hudson Valley loses well over an hour of daylight between mid-September and Halloween. A 9pm close in late September is a couple of hours of dark; by the last weekend of October it is five, and the temperature after sundown drops fast enough that families in fleeces regret it. If you are staying past dusk, dress for a night walk, not an afternoon.
The wide attraction spread is the genuine selling point. Farms this size usually skew either toddler or teenager; Barton has a cow train and a carousel at one end and a haunted house and go-karts at the other, which makes it one of the more workable options for a group with a big age gap. The dog park is a real differentiator too — most farms tolerate dogs at best.
The corresponding risk is cost. Eighteen attractions at a farm that sells festival tickets through its own portal is a lot of surface area for individual charges, and the pages we read did not lay out what a base ticket covers. Establish that on the phone at the same time as the hours.
Weekdays, if a regional guide's note that admission is free Monday to Friday except Columbus Day still holds — that is a large saving at a farm this size, and it also avoids the weekend crush. Columbus Day itself falls on October 12 in 2026 and is one of the paid exceptions. If you can only go at a weekend, go early in the day rather than at the evening end, because the late hours are where the haunted house and the drinking crowd take over.
At least half a day. With a carousel, pedal go-karts, mini golf, a mega slide, apple cannons, a cow train, gem mining, a wooden ship playground, a corn maze and pick-your-own on top of the food and drink, a two-hour visit leaves most of the property unused.
Weekends are the peak and the evening hours concentrate an older crowd around the haunted house and tap room. Columbus Day weekend is the reliable high point of the Hudson Valley season.
Not published. A farm of this scale will have a field lot rather than pavement, and Dutchess County fields do not drain quickly after autumn rain.
You need certainty before you leave the house. Two sources gave us two different sets of opening hours, the season window on the homepage was not clearly scoped to the fall festival, and the site was still displaying a weather notice referencing a date from a previous year. Skip it too if you want a quiet orchard hour — this is a busy, loud, built-out attraction park.
We could not establish it. The farm's homepage listed Friday 4:00pm-9:00pm, Saturday noon-9:00pm and Sunday noon-6:00pm, while a regional guide recorded 11:00am-6:00pm Sunday to Thursday and 11:00am-9:00pm Friday and Saturday. Those are irreconcilable, so phone 845-227-2306 for your date.
