That is not a criticism. It is how a lot of the best Hudson Valley farms work: apples first, pumpkins layered in, the two overlapping for a few weeks in early October when the place is at its best. If you time it to that overlap you get both crops, the maze, and weather that has not yet turned. Aim for the first half of October.
The one structural thing to sort out before you arrive is the wristband. The play attractions — bounce pillow, obstacle course, water cannon, off-road golf cart tours, pond fishing — sit behind one, and the price of that wristband appears nowhere on the farm’s pages. Neither, for that matter, do opening hours.
This matters because the two ways of visiting cost wildly different amounts. Turning up, picking a bag of apples and a pumpkin, buying cider donuts and leaving is a modest morning. Buying wristbands for three children is a different order of expense, and it only pays back if you stay long enough to use the list. Decide which visit you are having before you get to the gate, not after a child sees the bounce pillow.
A few items on the list are genuinely unusual.
