This is the rare Florida fall attraction built for adults, and it is worth saying so up front because the listing category will mislead you. There is no pumpkin patch. There is a maze, a Halloween maze, something called the Dark Forest, fire pits with s’mores, live music, vintage tractors to photograph, food service and a full liquor bar. On a Friday night that is a night out. It is not a Saturday morning with a two-year-old.
The venue is a blueberry farm, which explains the shape of the thing — blueberries are a spring crop in Lake County, so autumn is the farm’s off-season and the maze is what fills it. That is a more honest use of a working farm than most of what passes for agritourism in Florida, where the headline product arrives by truck.
Free parking and free admission are the first things you learn about this farm, and both are true. They are also not the cost of the evening. The maze is ticketed separately through the farm’s online store, and the farm’s own page does not show what a ticket costs — you find that out at checkout. Add food, drinks and a s’mores package and the gap between “free entry” and what you actually spend can be substantial, particularly at a venue with a full bar.
None of this is a trick. But if you are comparing this against a free church patch on the basis of the word free, you are comparing the wrong numbers.
The three sessions are not variations on a theme. Friday is 6pm to 10pm, entirely after dark. Saturday runs 11am to 10pm and is the only day that gives you both. Sunday finishes at 5pm and is effectively the daylight-only option. If you have young children, Sunday is the answer and the other two are not.
