The Dees' Nursery & Florist

📍 69 Atlantic Avenue, Oceanside, NY 11572🗓 September 19 – October 31, 2026🏷 Pricing TBD

The closest thing to a fall festival you will find without leaving the inner suburbs — a corn maze, petting zoo and gem mining at an Oceanside garden centre, though the venue had not published festival details or prices when we checked.

Our take

Geography is the argument for this one. Oceanside is about as far west as a fall festival with a corn maze gets on Long Island, which puts it within reach of an enormous number of people who would otherwise be looking at a long drive out to Suffolk County or up into the Hudson Valley. For a family in western Nassau or the western boroughs, that is the difference between an afternoon and an expedition.

What is on the list, according to a 2026 Long Island guide, is pumpkin picking, pumpkin painting, gem mining, a corn maze, a spooky walk, a petting zoo and a dino dig. That is a broader spread than most nursery festivals manage, and the petting zoo and corn maze in particular are things you do not normally get this close to the city.

The caveat is that the venue itself had not filled in the detail when we read it. Its own site gave the weekend window — September 19 to October 31 — and then said more details were to come. No hours for the festival, no prices, no activity descriptions. The activity list above is a guide’s, not the venue’s.

That leaves two things to sort out with a phone call. First, what the festival hours actually are, since the store’s 9am-to-5pm daily schedule almost certainly is not the festival’s. Second, what costs what. Gem mining and dino digs are near-universally sold as individual paid activities rather than bundled, and at a venue with seven listed attractions the difference between one gate price and seven small ones is the difference between a $40 afternoon and a $100 one.

Planning your visit

Best time to go

Every weekend from September 19 through October 31, 2026 — dates the venue states itself. Festival-specific hours were not published; the store runs 9:00am-5:00pm daily. Weekends only means six weekends total, and the last two before Halloween will be the busiest of a short run, so early October is the calmer half.

How long to budget

One to two hours. This is a nursery festival rather than a farm day, and the activity list is a circuit rather than a schedule.

Crowds

Six weekends is a short season, and this is the most accessible fall festival for a very large population. Expect the October weekends to be busy and go early in the day.

Parking

Not published, but a garden centre in Oceanside will have a hard-surfaced lot rather than a field — no mud, but also not a large one on a peak Saturday.

What to bring

  • A card, and cash as backup, since no pricing or payment information was published
  • Layers for late October, when a coastal Nassau afternoon turns cold quickly once the sun drops

How to spend less here

  • No prices were published anywhere — the venue's own site said more details were still to come. Call 516-678-3535 before you build a budget, and ask specifically whether gem mining and the dino dig are included or charged separately, since both are commonly ticketed on their own

Who it suits

Good for

  • Families in western Nassau, Queens and Brooklyn who do not want to drive to Suffolk County for a maze
  • Children roughly 3 to 9, which is where the petting zoo, dino dig, gem mining and pumpkin painting sit
  • Short attention spans and short afternoons, given the modest scale

Skip it if

You can only go on a weekday — the festival runs weekends only even though the store is open daily. Skip it too if you want pick-your-own from a real field; this is a garden centre setting up a festival, not a farm.

Worth pairing with

Hicks Nurseries in Westbury is the other Nassau County nursery festival on our list. It runs daily for seven weeks rather than six weekends, but it has a hay maze rather than a corn maze and no petting zoo, so the two genuinely differ.
